China has reaffirmed that communication channels with the European Union (EU) on intellectual property issues remain open, according to a statement from the Chinese Ministry of Commerce on Monday.
The announcement follows the EU's decision to file a complaint at the World Trade Organization (WTO) against China's judicial ruling on standard essential patent disputes. The Ministry confirmed that China received a consultation request from the EU on January 20, responding to media inquiries about the matter.
\"Channels of communication with the EU on intellectual property issues are always open,\" the Ministry stated, emphasizing the importance of dialogue in addressing international trade concerns.
The Ministry stressed that China has strictly adhered to WTO rules and its accession commitments. It highlighted that the country has continually improved legislation and law enforcement related to the protection of intellectual property rights, achievements that have been widely recognized globally.
\"China will address subsequent matters in accordance with WTO rules and firmly safeguard its legitimate rights and interests,\" the statement added, underscoring China's commitment to fair trade practices and cooperation within the WTO framework.
The ongoing communication between China and the EU reflects a mutual interest in resolving disputes through dialogue and collaboration. By keeping channels open, both parties aim to enhance understanding and work towards solutions that support innovation and protect intellectual property on an international scale.
