China's Ministry of Commerce has affirmed its openness to dialogue with the European Union (EU) regarding intellectual property issues, following the EU's recent complaint at the World Trade Organization (WTO).
The EU filed a complaint on Monday against China's judicial measures relating to standard essential patent disputes, prompting a response from Chinese officials.
In an online statement released on Monday, the ministry stated, \"Channels of communication with the EU on intellectual property issues are always open.\" The ministry acknowledged receiving a consultation request from the EU on January 20, emphasizing China's commitment to constructive dialogue.
The ministry stressed that China has strictly adhered to WTO rules and its accession commitments, continually improving legislation and enforcement related to intellectual property rights protection. \"Our achievements in this area have been widely recognized,\" the statement noted.
China intends to address subsequent matters in accordance with WTO procedures, firmly safeguarding its legitimate rights and interests.
China's response signals a willingness to engage with the EU to resolve the dispute through dialogue, highlighting the importance of cooperation in upholding international trade norms.
