China has expressed its willingness to maintain open channels of communication with the European Union (EU) regarding intellectual property issues, following the EU's recent complaint lodged with the World Trade Organization (WTO). The Chinese Ministry of Commerce made the announcement on Monday, emphasizing the importance of dialogue in resolving disputes.
The EU filed a complaint at the WTO on Monday, challenging China's judicial rulings on standard essential patent disputes. In response, China acknowledged receiving a consultation request from the EU on January 20, according to an online statement by the Ministry of Commerce.
The ministry highlighted China's commitment to adhering strictly to WTO rules and fulfilling its accession commitments. It noted that China has continuously improved its legislation and law enforcement related to the protection of intellectual property rights, achievements that have been widely recognized internationally.
\"China's channels of communication with the EU on intellectual property issues are always open,\" stated the ministry, responding to media inquiries about the issue. The ministry added that China will address subsequent matters in accordance with WTO rules and will firmly safeguard its legitimate rights and interests.
