China Open to EU Talks on Intellectual Property Amid WTO Dispute

China has expressed its openness to engage in dialogue with the European Union (EU) on issues related to intellectual property rights (IPR), the Chinese Ministry of Commerce announced on Monday.

\"Channels of communication with the EU on intellectual property matters remain unobstructed,\" the ministry stated, emphasizing the importance of collaborative efforts to address concerns.

The announcement comes in response to the EU's recent filing of a complaint at the World Trade Organization (WTO) against China\'s judicial rulings on standard essential patent disputes. On January 20, China received a consultation request from the EU, according to the ministry\'s online statement.

The Ministry of Commerce highlighted that China has consistently adhered to WTO rules and its accession commitments. \"China has continually improved legislation and law enforcement related to the protection of intellectual property rights, and its achievements have been widely recognized,\" the ministry noted.

It added that China will handle subsequent matters in accordance with WTO rules and will firmly safeguard its legitimate rights and interests.
