China Open to EU Dialogue on Intellectual Property Issues

China has expressed its openness to maintaining active communication channels with the European Union (EU) on intellectual property rights (IPR) issues, according to a statement by the Chinese Ministry of Commerce on Monday.

\"Channels of communication with the EU on intellectual property issues are always open,\" the ministry affirmed, responding to media inquiries concerning recent developments.

The statement came after the EU filed a complaint at the World Trade Organization (WTO) on Monday regarding China's judicial practices related to standard essential patent disputes.

China received the EU's consultation request on January 20, the ministry noted, emphasizing its commitment to addressing the matter within the framework of WTO regulations.

The Ministry of Commerce highlighted China's strict adherence to WTO rules and its accession commitments. It underscored the country's ongoing efforts to enhance legislation and law enforcement pertaining to the protection of intellectual property rights, achievements that have been widely recognized internationally.

\"China will address subsequent matters in accordance with WTO rules and firmly safeguard its legitimate rights and interests,\" the ministry added.
