China Open to EU Dialogue on Intellectual Property Issues

Channels of communication with the European Union (EU) on intellectual property issues are always open, China's Ministry of Commerce stated on Monday. The announcement comes as the EU filed a complaint at the World Trade Organization (WTO) against China's judicial ruling on standard essential patent disputes.

According to the ministry, China received a consultation request from the EU on January 20. In an online statement responding to media inquiries, the ministry reaffirmed China's commitment to open dialogue.

The ministry emphasized that China has adhered strictly to WTO rules and its accession commitments. It highlighted continuous improvements in legislation and law enforcement related to the protection of intellectual property rights, stating that the country's achievements have been widely recognized.

China added that it will address subsequent matters in accordance with WTO rules and will firmly safeguard its legitimate rights and interests.
