China Open to EU Dialogue on Intellectual Property Amid WTO Complaint
Channels of communication with the European Union (EU) on intellectual property issues are always open, China's Ministry of Commerce stated on Monday. The assurance comes amid recent developments involving a complaint filed by the EU at the World Trade Organization (WTO).
On Monday, the EU submitted a complaint to the WTO concerning China's judicial rulings on standard essential patent disputes. In response, the Chinese ministry confirmed that it received a consultation request from the EU on January 20, addressing media inquiries over the issue.
The ministry underscored China's strict adherence to WTO rules and the commitments made when joining the organization. It highlighted the country's ongoing efforts to improve legislation and law enforcement related to the protection of intellectual property rights, achievements that have been widely recognized.
China affirmed that it will handle subsequent matters in accordance with WTO rules and is committed to firmly safeguarding its legitimate rights and interests.
