China has expressed its openness to communication with the European Union regarding intellectual property (IP) issues, as stated by the Chinese Ministry of Commerce on Monday.
\"Channels of communication with the EU on intellectual property issues are always open,\" the ministry affirmed in an online statement.
This announcement follows the EU's filing of a complaint at the World Trade Organization (WTO) on Monday against China's judicial rulings on standard essential patent disputes.
The ministry noted that China received a consultation request from the EU on January 20, responding to media inquiries about the matter.
Emphasizing its commitment to international trade regulations, the ministry stated, \"China has adhered strictly to WTO rules and its accession commitments. We have continually improved legislation and law enforcement related to the protection of intellectual property rights, and our achievements have been widely recognized.\"
The ministry added that China will address subsequent matters in accordance with WTO rules and will firmly safeguard its legitimate rights and interests.
