The Chinese Ministry of Commerce announced on Monday that channels of communication with the European Union (EU) on intellectual property issues remain open. This statement comes in response to the EU filing a complaint at the World Trade Organization (WTO) against China's judicial practices concerning standard essential patent disputes.
On January 20, China received a consultation request from the EU, according to an online statement released by the ministry. The request pertains to concerns over China's handling of intellectual property rights and the enforcement of related judicial rulings.
The ministry emphasized that China has strictly adhered to WTO rules and its accession commitments. It highlighted that the nation has continually improved legislation and law enforcement in the protection of intellectual property rights, achievements that have been widely recognized on the global stage.
\"China will address subsequent matters in accordance with WTO rules and firmly safeguard its legitimate rights and interests,\" the ministry stated, reaffirming its commitment to constructive dialogue and cooperation with the EU on these matters.
The ongoing dialogue between China and the EU reflects the importance of intellectual property rights in fostering innovation and fair trade practices. As global economies become increasingly interconnected, effective communication and collaboration on such issues are crucial for maintaining healthy bilateral relations and promoting economic growth.
