China Open to Dialogue with EU on Intellectual Property Issues

China has expressed its willingness to engage in open communication with the European Union (EU) regarding intellectual property concerns, the Ministry of Commerce announced on Monday.

The statement comes in response to the EU's recent decision to file a complaint with the World Trade Organization (WTO) over China's judicial practices concerning standard essential patent disputes. The EU submitted a consultation request to China on January 20, seeking clarification and resolution on the matter.

According to the Ministry of Commerce, China has consistently adhered to WTO rules and its commitments since joining the organization. The ministry emphasized that China has continuously enhanced its legislation and enforcement mechanisms related to the protection of intellectual property rights, efforts that have been widely acknowledged internationally.

\"Channels of communication with the EU on intellectual property issues are always open,\" the ministry stated, highlighting China's openness to dialogue and cooperation. The ministry added that China will address subsequent matters in accordance with WTO procedures and will firmly safeguard its legitimate rights and interests.

The ongoing dialogue between China and the EU underscores the importance of collaboration in addressing complex intellectual property issues that impact global trade and innovation. As major players in the international market, both parties recognize the value of constructive engagement to resolve disputes and promote mutual economic growth.
