China Open to Dialogue with EU on Intellectual Property Amid WTO Dispute

On Monday, the Chinese Ministry of Commerce announced that channels of communication with the European Union (EU) regarding intellectual property issues remain open. This statement comes in response to the EU's recent filing of a complaint at the World Trade Organization (WTO) against China's judicial rulings on standard essential patent disputes.

The ministry confirmed that China received a consultation request from the EU on January 20, addressing concerns over China's handling of intellectual property rights (IPR). In an online statement, the ministry emphasized China's commitment to adhering strictly to WTO rules and fulfilling its accession commitments.

\"China has continually improved legislation and law enforcement related to the protection of intellectual property rights,\" the ministry stated. \"Our achievements in this area have been widely recognized.\"

The ministry added that China will address subsequent matters in accordance with WTO rules and is determined to firmly safeguard its legitimate rights and interests. The open channels of communication signal China's willingness to engage with the EU to resolve the dispute amicably.
