China has expressed its openness to communicate with the European Union (EU) regarding intellectual property issues, following the EU's recent complaint filed at the World Trade Organization (WTO). On Monday, the Chinese Ministry of Commerce announced that channels of communication with the EU are \"always open.\"
The EU lodged a complaint at the WTO concerning China's judicial ruling on standard essential patent disputes. In response, the Ministry of Commerce confirmed that China received the consultation request from the EU on January 20.
\"China has strictly adhered to WTO rules and its accession commitments,\" the ministry emphasized in an online statement. \"We have continuously improved legislation and law enforcement related to the protection of intellectual property rights, and our achievements have been widely recognized.\"
The ministry added that China will handle subsequent matters in accordance with WTO rules and is committed to firmly safeguarding its legitimate rights and interests.
This development highlights the ongoing dialogue between China and the EU on critical trade and intellectual property matters, underscoring the importance of collaboration in addressing global economic challenges.
