China has expressed its willingness to maintain open channels of communication with the European Union (EU) concerning intellectual property rights (IPR) issues. On Monday, the Chinese Ministry of Commerce stated that dialogue remains a priority amidst recent developments at the World Trade Organization (WTO).
The EU filed a complaint at the WTO on Monday against China's judicial ruling on standard essential patent disputes. According to the Chinese ministry, China received a consultation request from the EU on January 20. The ministry responded to media inquiries by emphasizing China's commitment to adhering strictly to WTO rules and its accession commitments.
\"The channels of communication with the EU on intellectual property issues are always open,\" the ministry affirmed in an online statement. It highlighted China's continuous efforts to improve legislation and law enforcement related to the protection of intellectual property rights, noting that these achievements have been widely recognized.
China reiterated its intention to address subsequent matters in accordance with WTO rules and to firmly safeguard its legitimate rights and interests.
