China Open to Communication with EU on Intellectual Property Issues

China's Ministry of Commerce announced on Monday that communication channels with the European Union (EU) on intellectual property issues are always open. This statement follows the EU filing a complaint at the World Trade Organization (WTO) against China's judicial ruling on standard essential patent disputes.

The Ministry confirmed receipt of a consultation request from the EU on January 20. In an online statement responding to media inquiries, the Ministry emphasized that China has strictly adhered to WTO rules and its accession commitments. It highlighted continuous improvements in legislation and law enforcement related to the protection of intellectual property rights, noting that these achievements have been widely recognized.

The Ministry added that China will address subsequent matters in accordance with WTO rules and firmly safeguard its legitimate rights and interests.
