China Keeps Communication Open with EU on Intellectual Property Issues

China's Ministry of Commerce announced on Monday that it is keeping communication channels open with the European Union (EU) regarding intellectual property issues. \"Channels of communication with the EU on intellectual property issues are always open,\" the ministry stated, emphasizing China's willingness to engage in dialogue.

The EU filed a complaint at the World Trade Organization (WTO) on Monday against China's judicial practices related to standard essential patent disputes. According to the Ministry of Commerce, China received a consultation request from the EU on January 20, signaling the beginning of formal discussions under WTO procedures.

In response to media inquiries, the ministry highlighted China's commitment to adhering strictly to WTO rules and its accession commitments. \"China has continually improved legislation and law enforcement related to the protection of intellectual property rights, and its achievements have been widely recognized,\" the statement read.

The ministry added that China will address subsequent matters in accordance with WTO rules and is prepared to firmly safeguard its legitimate rights and interests. The openness to dialogue underscores China's position in fostering cooperative relations with the EU despite the recent complaint.
