China's Ministry of Commerce announced on Monday that channels of communication with the European Union (EU) on intellectual property issues remain open, emphasizing a willingness to engage in constructive dialogue.
The statement came in response to the EU's recent decision to file a complaint with the World Trade Organization (WTO) against the Chinese mainland's judicial ruling on standard essential patent disputes. The EU initiated the consultation request on January 20, according to the ministry's online statement.
\"We have always adhered strictly to WTO rules and our accession commitments,\" the ministry stated. \"China has continually improved legislation and law enforcement related to the protection of intellectual property rights, and our achievements have been widely recognized.\"
The Ministry of Commerce affirmed that the Chinese mainland will address subsequent matters in accordance with WTO procedures and is committed to safeguarding its legitimate rights and interests.
