China Affirms Open Dialogue with EU on Intellectual Property Amid WTO Dispute

China has affirmed its openness to communication with the European Union (EU) on issues related to intellectual property rights, following a recent complaint filed by the EU at the World Trade Organization (WTO). On Monday, the Chinese Ministry of Commerce stated that channels of communication remain \"always open,\" underscoring a willingness to engage in dialogue amidst the dispute.

The EU's complaint, lodged on January 20, challenges China's judicial rulings on standard essential patent disputes. In response, China's Ministry of Commerce issued an online statement addressing media inquiries, highlighting that it had received the EU's consultation request and emphasizing its commitment to resolving the matter through WTO mechanisms.

\"China has adhered strictly to WTO rules and its accession commitments,\" the ministry stated, noting that the country has continuously improved legislation and law enforcement related to the protection of intellectual property rights. \"Our achievements have been widely recognized,\" it added, signaling confidence in China's track record on intellectual property protection.

The ministry further asserted that China would address subsequent matters in accordance with WTO rules and \"firmly safeguard its legitimate rights and interests.\" The stance reflects China's broader commitment to international trade norms and its role within the global trading system.

The dialogue between China and the EU comes at a critical time for international trade relations, with intellectual property rights being a pivotal issue for businesses and investors worldwide. The openness to communication suggests potential for negotiations that could impact economic trends and opportunities within Asian markets.
