China Affirms Open Dialogue with EU Amid WTO Intellectual Property Dispute

The Chinese Ministry of Commerce announced on Monday that communication channels with the European Union (EU) regarding intellectual property (IP) issues remain open, emphasizing China's commitment to dialogue amid recent disputes.

On the same day, the EU filed a complaint with the World Trade Organization (WTO) challenging China's judicial practices concerning standard essential patent disputes. The Chinese ministry confirmed that it received the EU's consultation request on January 20, responding to media inquiries about the matter.

\"China has always adhered strictly to WTO rules and its accession commitments,\" the ministry stated in an online declaration. \"We have continuously improved legislation and law enforcement related to the protection of intellectual property rights, and our achievements have been widely recognized.\"

The ministry added that China would address subsequent proceedings in accordance with WTO regulations and is determined to firmly safeguard its legitimate rights and interests.

The commitment to open communication underscores the importance of collaborative efforts between China and the EU in resolving IP disputes, which are critical to fostering innovation and fair trade practices on a global scale.
