China has reiterated its commitment to maintaining open channels of communication with the European Union (EU) regarding intellectual property issues, according to a statement by the Ministry of Commerce on Monday.
\"Channels of communication with the EU on intellectual property issues are always open,\" the Ministry of Commerce stated, responding to media inquiries about recent developments.
The announcement comes in the wake of the EU filing a complaint at the World Trade Organization (WTO) on Monday concerning China\'s judicial rulings on standard essential patent disputes. China received the EU\'s consultation request on January 20, as confirmed by the ministry.
Emphasizing its dedication to international trade norms, the ministry highlighted China\'s strict adherence to WTO rules and its accession commitments. \"China has continually improved legislation and law enforcement related to the protection of intellectual property rights,\" the statement read. \"Our achievements in this area have been widely recognized.\"
The ministry further affirmed that China will address subsequent matters in accordance with WTO procedures. \"We will firmly safeguard our legitimate rights and interests,\" it added.
The ongoing dialogue underscores the importance of cooperation between China and the EU in navigating complex intellectual property landscapes, reflecting a mutual interest in fostering fair and equitable trade practices.
