China has reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining open channels of communication with the European Union (EU) on intellectual property issues. The Chinese Ministry of Commerce announced on Monday that dialogue remains ongoing, emphasizing the importance of cooperation in this area.
\"Channels of communication with the EU on intellectual property issues are always open,\" the ministry stated in an online announcement. This response comes after the EU filed a complaint at the World Trade Organization (WTO) on Monday regarding China's judicial rulings on standard essential patent disputes.
The ministry confirmed receipt of a consultation request from the EU on January 20, following the EU's concerns over certain legal practices. In addressing these concerns, the ministry highlighted China's strict adherence to WTO rules and its commitments since joining the organization. The ministry noted that China has continually improved legislation and law enforcement related to the protection of intellectual property rights, achievements that have been widely recognized internationally.
\"China will handle subsequent matters in accordance with WTO rules and firmly safeguard its legitimate rights and interests,\" the ministry added, underscoring its dedication to fair trade practices and international cooperation.
