China Affirms Open Communication Channels with EU on Intellectual Property

China’s Ministry of Commerce announced on Monday that communication channels with the European Union (EU) on intellectual property issues remain open. This statement comes amid ongoing discussions regarding standard essential patent disputes.

On Monday, the EU filed a complaint with the World Trade Organization (WTO) against China’s judicial rulings on these disputes. The ministry confirmed that China received the EU’s consultation request on January 20, responding to media inquiries about the issue.

The ministry emphasized that China has strictly adhered to WTO rules and its accession commitments. It highlighted continuous improvements in legislation and law enforcement related to the protection of intellectual property rights, noting that these achievements have been widely recognized.

China stated that it will address subsequent matters in accordance with WTO rules, firmly safeguarding its legitimate rights and interests.
