The World Economic Forum (WEF) is placing sustainability and diversity at the forefront of its upcoming 2024 Davos Forum, according to Severin Podolak, Head of Event Management and Operations at the WEF.
In an exclusive interview with CGTN's Global Business, Podolak shared that this year's event is committed to the principles of 'reduce, reuse, and recycle.' To promote sustainable practices, the WEF is implementing measures such as subsidizing participants who opt for public transportation to travel to the event.
'We are doing our best to minimize the environmental impact of the forum,' Podolak stated. 'By encouraging the use of public transportation, we aim to reduce carbon emissions and set a standard for sustainable global events.'
Beyond environmental initiatives, the 2024 Davos Forum is also emphasizing diversity. Podolak highlighted the importance of bringing in diverse representation from various regions, industries, and perspectives. 'Inclusivity is essential for meaningful dialogue,' he said. 'We believe that a wide array of voices enriches the discussions and leads to more comprehensive solutions for global challenges.'
The WEF's focus on sustainability and diversity reflects a broader commitment to addressing global issues collaboratively and responsibly. As leaders from around the world prepare to convene at Davos, these themes are expected to be at the core of the forum's agenda.
