WEF’s Operations Chief Highlights Sustainability and Diversity at 2024 Davos Forum

In a recent interview with CGTN's Global Business, Severin Podolak, Head of Event Management and Operations at the World Economic Forum (WEF), emphasized the pivotal role of sustainability and diversity in the upcoming 2024 Davos Forum.

Podolak highlighted the WEF's commitment to environmental responsibility, stating that this year's event has taken significant strides to \"reduce, reuse, and recycle.\" Among the measures implemented are subsidies for participants who choose public transportation, aiming to lower the carbon footprint associated with travel to the event.

\"We are dedicated to making the Davos Forum not just a platform for discussing global issues but also a model for sustainable practices,\" Podolak said. \"By encouraging the use of public transport and implementing eco-friendly initiatives, we hope to set a standard for international conferences.\"

The WEF has also focused on enhancing diversity within the event. Podolak noted that the 2024 Davos Forum has worked diligently to bring in diverse representation from various regions, industries, and perspectives. \"Our goal is to create a dialogue that reflects the multifaceted nature of our global community,\" he explained. \"By including voices from different backgrounds, we enrich the discussions and foster more inclusive solutions to the world's challenges.\"

The emphasis on sustainability and diversity aligns with the WEF's broader mission to improve the state of the world through public-private cooperation. As businesses, governments, and civil society prepare to convene in Davos, these themes are expected to be at the forefront of the agenda, influencing discussions on economics, technology, and social progress.
