In an exclusive interview with CGTN’s Global Business, Severin Podolak, Head of Event Management and Operations at the World Economic Forum (WEF), emphasized the pivotal role of sustainability and diversity at the 2024 Davos Forum.
“We have strived to ‘reduce, reuse, and recycle’ throughout this year’s event,” Podolak shared, highlighting measures such as subsidizing participants who traveled by public transportation. “Our goal is to minimize our environmental footprint while fostering meaningful dialogue among global leaders.”
The WEF’s commitment to diversity was also a focal point. “The 2024 Davos Forum welcomed a more diverse representation in terms of regions, industries, and opinions than ever before,” Podolak noted. “By bringing together voices from different backgrounds, we aim to address global challenges more effectively.”
These initiatives demonstrate the WEF’s dedication to not only discussing global issues but also implementing practical solutions within its own operations. As the world continues to grapple with pressing environmental and social challenges, the Forum’s approach sets a precedent for international events seeking to make a positive impact.
