WEF Operations Chief Highlights Sustainability and Diversity at Davos Forum

In an exclusive interview with CGTN’s Global Business, Severin Podolak, Head of Event Management and Operations at the World Economic Forum (WEF), emphasized the organization’s commitment to sustainability and diversity at this year’s event. Podolak shared that the WEF has made significant efforts to “reduce, reuse, and recycle,” implementing measures such as subsidizing participants who travel by public transportation.

These initiatives aim to minimize the environmental impact of the forum, aligning with global efforts to address climate change and promote sustainable practices. “We are dedicated to leading by example in sustainability,” Podolak stated, highlighting the importance of corporate responsibility in environmental stewardship.

Additionally, the 2024 Davos Forum has made strides in enhancing diversity among its participants. Podolak noted that the event brought together a wide range of representatives from different regions, industries, and perspectives. “Diverse representation enriches the dialogue and fosters more inclusive solutions to global challenges,” he remarked.

The emphasis on diversity ensures that a multitude of voices contribute to the discussions at Davos, reflecting the interconnected nature of today’s global issues. By prioritizing both sustainability and diversity, the WEF seeks to create a platform that not only addresses pressing global concerns but also embodies the values necessary to drive meaningful change.
