WEF Operations Chief Highlights Sustainability and Diversity at 2024 Davos Forum

In an exclusive interview with CGTN’s Global Business, Severin Podolak, Head of Event Management and Operations at the World Economic Forum (WEF), shed light on the organization’s commitment to sustainability and diversity at this year’s Davos Forum.

Embracing the theme of “reduce, reuse, and recycle,” the WEF implemented several measures aimed at minimizing the environmental impact of the event. “We’ve tried our best to ensure that sustainability is at the core of everything we do,” Podolak said. One notable initiative was subsidizing participants who chose to travel by public transportation, encouraging a shift away from less eco-friendly modes of travel.

Podolak also highlighted the emphasis on bringing diverse representation to the 2024 Davos Forum. “It’s crucial for us to include voices from various regions, industries, and perspectives,” he noted. By fostering an inclusive environment, the WEF aims to facilitate richer dialogues and more comprehensive solutions to global challenges.

The Davos Forum continues to serve as a global platform where leaders from around the world convene to discuss pressing economic, social, and environmental issues. This year’s focus on sustainability and diversity underscores the WEF’s dedication to addressing these concerns collaboratively and proactively.
