In a recent interview with CGTN's Global Business, Severin Podolak, Head of Event Management and Operations at the World Economic Forum (WEF), emphasized the organization's commitment to sustainability and diversity at the 2024 Davos Forum.
Podolak highlighted that this year's event made significant efforts to \"reduce, reuse and recycle,\" implementing measures such as subsidizing participants who traveled by public transportation. \"We tried our best to minimize the environmental impact of the forum,\" he stated, noting that encouraging the use of public transport was a key part of their strategy.
The WEF also focused on bringing in diverse representation from various regions, industries, and perspectives. \"Diversity is at the core of our event,\" Podolak said. \"We believe that a multitude of voices and opinions enriches the dialogue and leads to more comprehensive solutions to global challenges.\"
By prioritizing sustainability and inclusivity, the 2024 Davos Forum aims to set a precedent for international conferences. Podolak expressed optimism that these efforts would inspire other organizations to adopt similar practices in their events. \"Our goal is not only to address pressing world issues but also to lead by example in how we conduct our own operations,\" he concluded.
