WEF Operations Chief Emphasizes Sustainability and Diversity at Davos Forum

In a recent interview with CGTN's Global Business, Severin Podolak, Head of Event Management and Operations at the World Economic Forum (WEF), underscored the organization's commitment to sustainability and diversity at the upcoming 2024 Davos Forum.

Podolak highlighted the WEF's efforts to \"reduce, reuse and recycle,\" emphasizing that this year's event is implementing measures to minimize its environmental footprint. One significant initiative includes subsidizing participants who choose to travel by public transportation, encouraging eco-friendly travel choices among attendees from around the world.

\"We are deeply committed to making sustainability a core aspect of our events,\" Podolak stated. \"By incentivizing public transportation and focusing on resource efficiency, we aim to set a benchmark for global conferences.\"

Beyond sustainability, the WEF is also prioritizing diverse representation. Podolak shared that the 2024 Davos Forum will feature voices from a wide range of regions, industries, and perspectives. \"Diversity brings richness to our discussions,\" he said. \"By including a multitude of opinions, we foster more comprehensive dialogues on the pressing issues affecting our global community.\"

The emphasis on sustainability and diversity aligns with the WEF's broader mission to improve the state of the world by engaging leaders in partnerships to shape global, regional, and industry agendas.

The 2024 Davos Forum is expected to draw participants from various sectors, including business professionals, investors, academics, and cultural explorers, reflecting the Forum's inclusive approach to tackling global challenges.
