WEF Operations Chief Emphasizes Sustainability and Diversity at Core of Event

In an exclusive interview with CGTN's Global Business, Severin Podolak, Head of Event Management and Operations at the World Economic Forum (WEF), highlighted the organization's commitment to sustainability and diversity during this year's event.

Podolak shared that the WEF has made significant efforts to "reduce, reuse, and recycle" in all aspects of the event's planning and execution. "We've implemented measures such as subsidizing participants who travel by public transportation," he said, underscoring the importance of minimizing the environmental footprint of global gatherings.

The 2024 Davos Forum, according to Podolak, has also prioritized bringing in diverse representation from various regions, industries, and perspectives. "It's crucial that we have a multitude of voices at the table," he explained. "This diversity enriches discussions and leads to more comprehensive solutions to the world's challenges."

By fostering an inclusive environment and promoting sustainable practices, the WEF aims to set a standard for international conferences and encourage other organizations to adopt similar approaches. Podolak's insights shed light on the evolving priorities of global forums in addressing not just economic issues but also social and environmental concerns.
