WEF Operations Chief Highlights Sustainability and Diversity at Core of 2024 Davos Forum
The World Economic Forum’s 2024 Davos Forum is placing sustainability and diversity at the forefront of its agenda, according to Severin Podolak, Head of Event Management and Operations at the WEF. In an exclusive interview with CGTN’s Global Business, Podolak emphasized the organization’s commitment to “reduce, reuse and recycle,” implementing measures aimed at minimizing the event’s environmental impact.
“This year, we’ve tried our best to ‘reduce, reuse and recycle’,” Podolak shared, highlighting initiatives such as subsidizing participants who traveled by public transportation. “We believe that every effort counts when it comes to sustainability.”
Podolak also underscored the importance of diversity at the forum, noting that the 2024 event brought in a wide range of representation in terms of regions, industries, and opinions. “It’s crucial that we have diverse voices at the table,” he said. “This diversity enriches our discussions and leads to more innovative solutions to global challenges.”
The emphasis on sustainability and diversity reflects the WEF’s ongoing efforts to address pressing global issues through collaborative dialogue and action. By fostering an inclusive environment and reducing the event’s ecological footprint, the WEF aims to set a positive example for international conferences and gatherings.
