In a recent interview with CGTN's Global Business, Severin Podolak, Head of Event Management and Operations at the World Economic Forum (WEF), emphasized that sustainability and diversity are at the forefront of the upcoming 2024 Davos Forum.
Podolak revealed that this year's event is committed to the principle of \"reduce, reuse, and recycle.\" To minimize the environmental impact, the WEF is implementing measures such as subsidizing participants who choose public transportation over private or air travel.
\"We are striving to make the Davos Forum more sustainable by encouraging environmentally friendly travel and reducing waste wherever possible,\" Podolak explained.
Beyond sustainability, the WEF is also focusing on enhancing diversity at the event. Podolak highlighted the importance of bringing together a wide array of perspectives from different regions, industries, and viewpoints.
\"Our goal is to foster inclusive dialogue by ensuring diverse representation,\" he said. \"This diversity enriches discussions and leads to more comprehensive solutions to global challenges.\"
The 2024 Davos Forum aims to be a platform where leaders from various sectors can collaborate on pressing issues such as climate change, economic development, and social equity.
By prioritizing sustainability and diversity, the WEF hopes to set an example for international conferences and drive positive change on a global scale.
