The World Economic Forum (WEF) is placing sustainability and diversity at the forefront of its upcoming 2024 Davos Forum, according to Severin Podolak, Head of Event Management and Operations at the WEF. In an exclusive interview with CGTN’s Global Business, Podolak detailed the innovative measures being implemented to make the event more environmentally friendly and inclusive.
“We are striving to ‘reduce, reuse, and recycle’ in every aspect of the forum,” said Podolak. One significant step is subsidizing participants who choose to travel by public transportation, encouraging greener commuting options and reducing the event’s carbon footprint.
Beyond environmental efforts, the 2024 Davos Forum is also emphasizing diversity. Podolak highlighted that this year’s event aims to bring together a more varied representation of regions, industries, and opinions. “We believe that diverse perspectives are crucial for meaningful dialogue and progress,” he explained.
The commitment to sustainability and inclusivity reflects the WEF’s broader mission to address global challenges collaboratively. By fostering an environment where different voices are heard and sustainable practices are prioritized, the Davos Forum continues to be a leading platform for shaping the future of global cooperation.
The upcoming forum promises to not only discuss pressing global issues but also to set an example through action, integrating sustainability and diversity into the very fabric of the event.
