Han Zheng Meets U.S. Business Leaders to Strengthen China-U.S. Ties

Chinese Vice President Han Zheng expressed hope on Sunday that U.S. companies will continue to invest and establish deeper roots in China. During a meeting with representatives from the U.S.-China Business Council and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, Han emphasized the role of American businesses as vital bridges in fostering steady, sound, and sustainable development of China-U.S. relations.

Han is currently in Washington D.C. to attend the inauguration ceremony of U.S. President-elect Donald Trump on Monday, serving as Chinese President Xi Jinping's special representative. During his discussions with U.S. business leaders, Han highlighted the recent important common understandings reached between President Xi and President-elect Trump regarding the future of China-U.S. relations.

He acknowledged the broad common interests and vast potential for cooperation between China and the United States, noting that a strong start and steady growth in bilateral relations serve the well-being of both nations' peoples and meet the expectations of the international community.

Han praised the U.S. business community as the backbone of China-U.S. relations, recognizing their role as participants, witnesses, contributors, and beneficiaries of bilateral economic and trade cooperation, as well as China's reform and opening-up efforts. He assured that China will continue to advance these efforts and improve its business environment.

Representatives of the U.S. business community expressed optimism about China's economic prospects and development opportunities. They highlighted that the recent phone conversation between Trump and Xi sent a positive and encouraging message. Emphasizing the need for mutually beneficial cooperation, they voiced support for strengthening dialogue and communication to advance bilateral relations and economic and trade cooperation.

On the same day, Han also met with Tesla CEO Elon Musk. Han welcomed U.S. companies, including Tesla, to seize opportunities in China and share in the fruits of its development. He encouraged greater contributions to promoting economic and trade exchanges between the United States and China.

Musk expressed readiness to deepen Tesla's investment and cooperation with China, committing to play an active role in enhancing economic and trade relations between the two countries.
