Chinese Vice President Han Zheng, serving as President Xi Jinping's special representative, met with representatives of the U.S. business community in Washington, D.C., on Sunday. The meeting aimed to reinforce the economic and trade ties between China and the United States, emphasizing mutual benefits and collaboration.

Han Zheng expressed China's hope that American companies will continue to invest and establish a strong presence in China. He highlighted the vital role that U.S. businesses play as a bridge in fostering steady, sound, and sustainable development of China-U.S. relations. \"We welcome U.S. companies to seize the opportunities that China's development offers,\" Han stated.

The vice president met with representatives from the U.S.-China Business Council and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. During the discussions, Han noted that President Xi and U.S. President-elect Donald Trump recently reached important common understandings during a phone call, setting a positive tone for the future of bilateral relations.

Han emphasized that China and the United States share broad common interests and have vast potential for cooperation. \"Getting the bilateral relationship off to a good start and keeping it growing steadily serves the common well-being of our peoples and meets the expectations of the international community,\" he said.

He acknowledged the U.S. business community as the backbone of China-U.S. relations, recognizing them as participants, witnesses, contributors, and beneficiaries of the economic and trade cooperation between the two nations and China's reform and opening-up efforts. Han reaffirmed China's commitment to advancing reform and opening-up and continuing to improve its business environment.

The U.S. business leaders expressed optimism about China's economic prospects and the opportunities available for development. They welcomed the positive message sent by the recent phone conversation between President-elect Trump and President Xi. As representatives stated, \"The United States and China, as the world's two most dynamic and technologically advanced economies, should pursue mutually beneficial cooperation and work towards a constructive and stable relationship.\"

The business community voiced support for strengthening dialogue and communication between the two countries to advance bilateral relations and economic cooperation. They affirmed their readiness to play an active role in promoting economic and trade exchanges.

On the same day, Han Zheng also met with Tesla CEO Elon Musk. Han welcomed Tesla's continued investment and cooperation in China, emphasizing the significant opportunities available. Musk expressed enthusiasm for deepening Tesla's engagement with China and contributing to economic and trade exchanges between the United States and China.

Han Zheng is in Washington, D.C., to attend the inauguration ceremony of U.S. President-elect Donald Trump on Monday, at the invitation of the United States. His visit signifies the importance China places on maintaining and enhancing the bilateral relationship during the incoming U.S. administration.
