Han Zheng Meets U.S. Business Leaders to Strengthen China-U.S. Ties

Chinese Vice President Han Zheng emphasized the importance of strengthening economic ties between China and the United States during a meeting with U.S. business leaders in Washington D.C. on Sunday. Han expressed hope that U.S. companies would continue to invest and establish roots in China, serving as a bridge to foster steady, sound, and sustainable development of China-U.S. relations.

Han met with representatives from the U.S.-China Business Council and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, highlighting the broad common interests and vast potential for cooperation between the two nations. \"Getting the bilateral relationship off to a good start and keeping it growing steadily serves the common well-being of the peoples of the two countries and meets the expectations of the international community,\" Han stated.

The vice president noted that the U.S. business community has always been a backbone of China-U.S. relations, playing a significant role as participants, witnesses, contributors, and beneficiaries of bilateral economic and trade cooperation as well as China's reform and opening-up efforts. He reaffirmed China's commitment to advancing reform and opening-up and to continuing the improvement of its business environment.

Representatives of the U.S. business community expressed optimism about China's economic prospects and development opportunities. They acknowledged the recent positive and encouraging phone conversation between Chinese President Xi Jinping and U.S. President-elect Donald Trump, emphasizing the importance of pursuing mutually beneficial cooperation. \"As the world's two most dynamic and technologically advanced economies, the U.S. and China should work towards finding a constructive and stable way to coexist,\" they stated.

Han is in Washington D.C. to attend the inauguration ceremony of U.S. President-elect Donald Trump on Monday as President Xi Jinping's special representative, at the invitation of the United States.

In addition to meeting with business leaders, Han also held discussions with Tesla CEO Elon Musk. Han welcomed U.S. companies like Tesla to seize opportunities in China and share in the fruits of its development. He encouraged deeper investment and cooperation, highlighting the potential for U.S. companies to contribute to promoting economic and trade exchanges between the two nations.

Musk expressed readiness to expand Tesla's investment and cooperation in China, committing to play an active role in strengthening U.S.-China economic and trade relations.
