In a bid to bolster economic relations between China and the United States, Chinese Vice President Han Zheng met with prominent U.S. business leaders in Washington D.C. on Sunday. Han emphasized the importance of continued U.S. investment in China and expressed hope that American companies would \"continue to invest and take root in China,\" contributing to the \"steady, sound, and sustainable development of China-U.S. relations.\"

Han's visit to the U.S. capital comes ahead of the inauguration ceremony of U.S. President-elect Donald Trump, where he will attend as President Xi Jinping's special representative. During his meeting with representatives from the U.S.-China Business Council and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, Han highlighted the significant common interests shared by the two nations and the vast potential for cooperation.

\"Getting the bilateral relationship off to a good start and keeping it growing steadily serve the common well-being of the peoples of the two countries and meet the expectation of the international community,\" Han stated.

The U.S. business community responded positively, noting that the recent phone conversation between President Xi and President-elect Trump sent an encouraging message. \"As the world's two most dynamic and technologically advanced economies, the U.S. and China should pursue mutually beneficial cooperation and work towards finding a constructive and stable way to coexist,\" representatives said.

Han acknowledged the vital role that U.S. businesses have played in China’s reform and opening-up efforts, calling them participants, witnesses, contributors, and beneficiaries of bilateral economic and trade cooperation. He assured that China would continue to improve its business environment, creating more opportunities for foreign investors.

In addition to meeting with business leaders, Han also held discussions with Tesla CEO Elon Musk. Han welcomed U.S. companies like Tesla to \"seize the opportunity to share in the fruits of China's development\" and to make greater contributions to promoting China-U.S. economic and trade relations.

Musk expressed enthusiasm about deepening Tesla’s investment and cooperation with China, stating that the company is ready to play an active role in fostering economic and trade exchanges between the two nations.
