Han Zheng Meets U.S. Business Leaders to Strengthen China-U.S. Ties

Chinese Vice President Han Zheng expressed hope that U.S. companies will continue to invest and establish deeper roots in China, as he met with representatives of the U.S. business community on Sunday. Han emphasized the importance of U.S. businesses acting as a bridge to contribute to the steady, sound, and sustainable development of China-U.S. relations.

Han met with members of the U.S.-China Business Council and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce in Washington D.C., where he is attending the inauguration ceremony of U.S. President-elect Donald Trump as the special representative of Chinese President Xi Jinping.

During the meeting, Han noted that President Xi and President-elect Trump recently reached important common understandings regarding the advancement of China-U.S. relations during a phone conversation. He highlighted the broad common interests and vast potential for cooperation between the two countries, stating that a strong bilateral relationship serves the well-being of both peoples and meets the expectations of the international community.

\"The U.S. business community has always been the backbone of China-U.S. relations,\" Han said. \"You are participants, witnesses, contributors, and beneficiaries of bilateral economic and trade cooperation as well as China's reform and opening-up drive.\"

Han reassured the business leaders that China will steadfastly advance its reform and opening-up efforts and continue to improve its business environment.

Representatives from the U.S. business community expressed optimism about China's economic prospects and development opportunities. They welcomed the positive, encouraging message from the recent phone conversation between President-elect Trump and President Xi.

\"As the world's two most dynamic and technologically advanced economies, the U.S. and China should pursue mutually beneficial cooperation and work towards finding a constructive and stable way to coexist,\" they said.

The U.S. business leaders voiced their support for strengthening dialogue and communication to continue advancing bilateral relations and economic and trade cooperation.

On the same day, Han also met with Tesla CEO Elon Musk. Han welcomed U.S. companies, including Tesla, to seize opportunities to share in the fruits of China's development and contribute to promoting China-U.S. economic and trade relations.

Musk expressed readiness to deepen investment and cooperation with China and to play an active role in promoting economic and trade exchanges between the U.S. and China.
