Han Zheng Meets U.S. Business Leaders to Strengthen China-U.S. Economic Ties

Chinese Vice President Han Zheng met with representatives of the U.S. business community in Washington D.C. on Sunday, emphasizing the importance of strengthening economic ties between China and the United States.

Han expressed hope that U.S. companies would continue to invest and establish a strong presence in the Chinese mainland, acting as a bridge to foster stable and sustainable development in China-U.S. relations. He acknowledged the crucial role that the U.S. business community has played as participants, witnesses, contributors, and beneficiaries of bilateral economic and trade cooperation and China's reform and opening-up efforts.

\"China will unswervingly advance its reform and opening-up efforts and continue to improve its business environment,\" Han stated during the meeting with representatives from the U.S.-China Business Council and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.

Han is visiting Washington D.C. as the special representative of Chinese President Xi Jinping to attend the inauguration ceremony of U.S. President-elect Donald Trump on Monday, at the invitation of the United States.

He noted that President Xi and President-elect Trump recently held a constructive phone conversation, reaching important common understandings on the development of China-U.S. relations. Han highlighted that the two nations share broad common interests and vast potential for cooperation.

\"Getting the bilateral relationship off to a good start and keeping it growing steadily serves the common well-being of the peoples of both countries and meets the expectation of the international community,\" Han said.

Representatives of the U.S. business community expressed optimism about China's economic prospects and the opportunities for development. They noted that the recent phone conversation between Trump and Xi sent a positive and encouraging message.

\"As the world's two most dynamic and technologically advanced economies, the United States and China should pursue mutually beneficial cooperation and work toward finding a constructive and stable way to coexist,\" they said.

The U.S. business leaders affirmed their support for strengthening dialogue and communication to continue advancing bilateral relations and economic and trade cooperation.

During his visit, Han also met with Tesla CEO Elon Musk. Han welcomed U.S. companies, including Tesla, to seize the opportunity to share in the fruits of China's development and contribute to promoting China-U.S. economic and trade relations.

Musk expressed readiness to deepen Tesla's investment and cooperation in China and to play an active role in enhancing economic and trade exchanges between the United States and China.
