Han Zheng Meets U.S. Business Leaders to Boost China-U.S. Relations

In a significant move to strengthen China-U.S. relations, Chinese Vice President Han Zheng met with prominent U.S. business leaders on Sunday. The meeting underscored the importance of economic cooperation between the world's two largest economies and highlighted opportunities for mutual growth and understanding.

Han Zheng expressed hope that U.S. companies would continue to invest and establish themselves in the Chinese mainland, playing an active role as a bridge between the two nations. \"We welcome U.S. businesses to deepen their roots in China, contribute to our shared prosperity, and enhance the steady, sound, and sustainable development of China-U.S. relations,\" Han stated.

The meeting included representatives from the U.S.-China Business Council and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. Han, in Washington D.C. to attend the inauguration ceremony of U.S. President-elect Donald Trump on Monday as Chinese President Xi Jinping's special representative, emphasized the broad common interests and vast potential for cooperation between China and the United States.

Han highlighted that President Xi Jinping and President-elect Trump recently reached important common understandings regarding the development of China-U.S. relations during a phone conversation. \"Getting the bilateral relationship off to a good start and keeping it growing steadily serves the common well-being of the peoples of our two countries and meets the expectations of the international community,\" he remarked.

He acknowledged the pivotal role of the U.S. business community in fostering China-U.S. relations, describing them as participants, witnesses, contributors, and beneficiaries of bilateral economic and trade cooperation as well as China's reform and opening-up efforts. Han reassured that China would unswervingly advance its reform and opening-up initiatives and continue to improve its business environment.

The U.S. business leaders expressed optimism about China's economic prospects and development opportunities. They noted that the recent phone conversation between Trump and Xi sent a positive and encouraging message. \"As the world's two most dynamic and technologically advanced economies, the United States and China should pursue mutually beneficial cooperation and work towards finding a constructive and stable way to coexist,\" they affirmed.

They further conveyed the U.S. business community's support for strengthening dialogue and communication to advance bilateral relations and economic and trade cooperation.

On the same day, Han Zheng also met with Tesla CEO Elon Musk. Han welcomed U.S. companies, including Tesla, to seize opportunities in China. \"We encourage U.S. enterprises to share in the fruits of China's development and make greater contributions to promoting China-U.S. economic and trade relations,\" he said.

Musk expressed enthusiasm for deepening Tesla's investment and cooperation in China. \"Tesla is ready to enhance its presence and play an active role in promoting economic and trade exchanges between the United States and China,\" he stated.
