Han Zheng Meets U.S. Business Leaders to Boost China-U.S. Relations

Chinese Vice President Han Zheng met with U.S. business leaders on Sunday in Washington D.C., aiming to strengthen China-U.S. relations and encourage continued investment from American companies in China. Han expressed hope that U.S. firms will continue to invest and take root in China, acting as a bridge to contribute to the steady, sound, and sustainable development of bilateral ties.

Han is attending the inauguration ceremony of U.S. President-elect Donald Trump on Monday as the special representative of Chinese President Xi Jinping, at the invitation of the United States. During the meeting with representatives from the U.S.-China Business Council and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, Han noted that President Xi and President-elect Trump recently reached important common understandings regarding the future of China-U.S. relations during a phone conversation.

\"China and the United States share broad common interests and vast potential for cooperation,\" Han stated. \"Getting the bilateral relationship off to a good start and keeping it growing steadily serves the common well-being of the peoples of our two countries and meets the expectations of the international community.\"

Han highlighted the crucial role of the U.S. business community in China-U.S. relations, calling it a participant, witness, contributor, and beneficiary of bilateral economic and trade cooperation as well as China's reform and opening-up efforts. He affirmed that China will unswervingly advance its reform and opening-up initiatives and continue to improve its business environment.

Representatives of the U.S. business community responded positively, expressing optimism about China's economic prospects and opportunities for development. They emphasized the importance of mutually beneficial cooperation between the two nations, stating that the U.S. and China, as the world's two most dynamic and technologically advanced economies, should work towards finding a constructive and stable way to coexist.

The business leaders voiced support for strengthening dialogue and communication to continue advancing bilateral relations and economic and trade cooperation.

On the same day, Han also met with Tesla CEO Elon Musk. Han welcomed U.S. companies, including Tesla, to seize the opportunity to share in the fruits of China's development and make greater contributions to promoting economic and trade relations between China and the United States.

Musk expressed readiness to deepen Tesla's investment and cooperation with China and to play an active role in promoting economic and trade exchanges between the two countries.
