Han Zheng Encourages U.S. Investment to Strengthen China-U.S. Relations
Chinese Vice President Han Zheng met with representatives of the U.S. business community in Washington D.C. on Sunday, urging continued investment in China and emphasizing the importance of robust China-U.S. economic ties.
During the meeting, which included members of the U.S.-China Business Council and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, Han expressed hope that U.S. companies would \"continue to invest and take root in China, play an active role as a bridge, and make a greater contribution to the steady, sound, and sustainable development of China-U.S. relations.\"
Han's visit to Washington D.C. comes as he is set to attend the inauguration ceremony of U.S. President-elect Donald Trump on Monday as the special representative of Chinese President Xi Jinping.
He highlighted the recent phone conversation between President Xi and President-elect Trump, noting that they reached important common understandings regarding the development of China-U.S. relations. Han stated that both countries share \"broad common interests and vast potential for cooperation,\" and that fostering a strong bilateral relationship serves the well-being of both peoples and meets international expectations.
Emphasizing China's commitment to reform and opening-up, Han assured that China will continue to improve its business environment. He acknowledged the U.S. business community as a \"participant, witness, contributor, and beneficiary\" of the bilateral economic and trade cooperation, as well as China's development efforts.
Representatives from the U.S. business community responded positively, expressing optimism about China's economic prospects and opportunities for development. They supported strengthening dialogue and communication to advance bilateral relations and economic cooperation, stating that the recent conversation between Trump and Xi sent a \"positive, encouraging message.\"
\"As the world's two most dynamic and technologically advanced economies, the U.S. and China should pursue mutually beneficial cooperation and work towards finding a constructive and stable way to coexist,\" they remarked.
On the same day, Han also met with Tesla CEO Elon Musk. Han welcomed U.S. companies like Tesla to \"seize the opportunity to share in the fruits of China's development\" and contribute to promoting China-U.S. economic and trade relations.
Musk expressed readiness to deepen Tesla's investment and cooperation in China, stating that the company aims to play an active role in enhancing economic exchanges between the two countries.
