Han Zheng Calls for Stronger China-U.S. Ties in Meetings with U.S. Business Leaders

Chinese Vice President Han Zheng met with representatives of the U.S. business community in Washington D.C. on Sunday, expressing hope that American companies will continue to invest and grow in China. Han emphasized the importance of strengthening China-U.S. relations, highlighting the mutual benefits of bilateral cooperation.

Han is in Washington D.C. to attend the inauguration ceremony of U.S. President-elect Donald Trump on Monday, serving as President Xi Jinping's special representative at the invitation of the United States.

During the meeting with business leaders from organizations such as the U.S.-China Business Council and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, Han noted that President Xi and President-elect Trump recently had a phone conversation, reaching important common understandings on the development of China-U.S. relations.

\"China and the United States share broad common interests and vast potential for cooperation,\" Han said. \"Getting the bilateral relationship off to a good start and keeping it growing steadily serves the common well-being of the peoples of our two countries and meets the expectations of the international community.\"

Han acknowledged the significant role of the U.S. business community in fostering China-U.S. relations, describing it as a participant, witness, contributor, and beneficiary of bilateral economic and trade cooperation, as well as China's reform and opening-up efforts.

He reassured the business leaders that China will continue to advance its reform and opening-up initiatives and improve its business environment, welcoming U.S. companies to invest and operate in China.

The U.S. business representatives expressed optimism about China's economic prospects and opportunities for development. They viewed the recent phone conversation between Trump and Xi as a positive and encouraging sign for future cooperation.

\"As the world's two most dynamic and technologically advanced economies, the United States and China should pursue mutually beneficial cooperation and work towards finding a constructive and stable way to coexist,\" the representatives said.

They affirmed their support for strengthening dialogue and communication between the two countries to advance bilateral relations and economic and trade cooperation.

Han also met with Tesla CEO Elon Musk on Sunday. Han welcomed U.S. companies, including Tesla, to seize opportunities to share in the fruits of China's development and contribute to promoting China-U.S. economic and trade relations.

Musk expressed readiness to deepen Tesla's investment and cooperation with China, aiming to play an active role in promoting economic and trade exchanges between the United States and China.
