Chinese Vice President Han Zheng Strengthens China-U.S. Ties with U.S. Business Leaders

Chinese Vice President Han Zheng met with representatives of the U.S. business community in Washington D.C. on Sunday, emphasizing the importance of continued investment and cooperation between China and the United States. Han expressed hope that U.S. companies will continue to invest and establish deeper roots in the Chinese mainland, serving as active bridges to foster steady, sound, and sustainable development of China-U.S. relations.

Han is in Washington D.C. to attend the inauguration ceremony of U.S. President-elect Donald Trump on Monday, acting as Chinese President Xi Jinping's special representative. During a recent phone conversation, President Xi and President-elect Trump reached significant common understandings on advancing China-U.S. relations, Han noted.

Emphasizing Mutual Interests and Cooperation

Highlighting the broad common interests and vast potential for cooperation between the two nations, Han stated that a positive start and steady growth in bilateral relations serve the well-being of both peoples and meet global expectations. He commended the U.S. business community as a backbone of China-U.S. relations, recognizing their role as participants, witnesses, contributors, and beneficiaries of bilateral economic and trade cooperation and China's reform and opening-up initiatives.

\"China will unswervingly advance its reform and opening-up efforts and continue to improve its business environment,\" Han assured the business leaders.

Optimism from U.S. Business Leaders

Representatives from the U.S. business community, including members of the U.S.-China Business Council and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, expressed optimism about China's economic prospects and development opportunities. They welcomed the positive and encouraging message from the recent phone conversation between President-elect Trump and President Xi.

\"As the world's two most dynamic and technologically advanced economies, the U.S. and China should pursue mutually beneficial cooperation and work towards finding a constructive and stable way to coexist,\" they stated. The U.S. business leaders affirmed their support for strengthening dialogue and communication to advance bilateral relations and economic and trade cooperation.

Meeting with Tesla CEO Elon Musk

Han Zheng also met with Tesla CEO Elon Musk on Sunday. Han welcomed Tesla's continued investment and cooperation in China, inviting U.S. companies to share in the fruits of China's development. \"We hope companies like Tesla seize the opportunity to deepen collaboration and contribute to promoting China-U.S. economic and trade relations,\" Han said.

Musk expressed enthusiasm for expanding Tesla's investment and cooperation in China, committing to play an active role in fostering economic and trade exchanges between the two countries.
