Chinese Vice President Han Zheng Seeks Stronger China-U.S. Relations in Talks with U.S. Business Leaders

Chinese Vice President Han Zheng met with representatives of the U.S. business community on Sunday in Washington D.C., emphasizing the importance of strengthening China-U.S. relations through continued investment and cooperation.

Han expressed hope that U.S. companies would continue to invest and establish deeper roots in China, playing an active role as a bridge to contribute to the steady, sound, and sustainable development of China-U.S. relations.

During the meeting with delegates from the U.S.-China Business Council and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, Han highlighted the recent phone conversation between President Xi Jinping and U.S. President-elect Donald Trump, noting that they reached important common understandings regarding the development of China-U.S. relations.

\"China and the United States share broad common interests and vast potential for cooperation,\" Han stated. \"Getting the bilateral relationship off to a good start and keeping it growing steadily serves the common well-being of the peoples of the two countries and meets the expectations of the international community.\"

He acknowledged the significant role that the U.S. business community has played as participants, witnesses, contributors, and beneficiaries of bilateral economic and trade cooperation, as well as China's reform and opening-up efforts.

Han assured that China will unswervingly advance its reform and opening-up initiatives and continue to improve its business environment.

The U.S. business leaders expressed optimism about China's economic prospects and opportunities for development. They supported strengthening dialogue and communication to advance bilateral relations and economic and trade cooperation.

They noted that as the world's two most dynamic and technologically advanced economies, the United States and China should pursue mutually beneficial cooperation and work towards finding a constructive and stable way to coexist.

Later on Sunday, Han also met with Tesla CEO Elon Musk. Han welcomed U.S. companies like Tesla to seize opportunities in China and contribute to promoting China-U.S. economic and trade relations.

Musk expressed Tesla's readiness to deepen investment and cooperation with China, playing an active role in promoting economic and trade exchanges between the two countries.
