Chinese Vice President Han Zheng Meets U.S. Business Leaders to Strengthen Ties

Chinese Vice President Han Zheng expressed hope that U.S. companies will continue to invest and establish deeper roots in China during a meeting with representatives of the U.S. business community on Sunday. Han emphasized the important role that American businesses play in fostering stable and sustainable China-U.S. relations.

Meeting with members of the U.S.-China Business Council and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce in Washington D.C., Han highlighted the broad common interests and significant potential for cooperation between the two nations. He noted that President Xi Jinping and U.S. President-elect Donald Trump recently reached important understandings on developing bilateral relations during a phone conversation.

\"Getting the bilateral relationship off to a good start and keeping it growing steadily serves the common well-being of the peoples of the two countries and meets the expectations of the international community,\" Han stated.

Han acknowledged the U.S. business community as a \"backbone\" of China-U.S. relations, describing them as participants, witnesses, contributors, and beneficiaries of bilateral economic and trade cooperation and China's reform and opening-up efforts. He assured that China will continue to advance its reform and opening-up agenda and improve its business environment.

Representatives from the U.S. business community conveyed optimism about China's economic prospects and development opportunities. They welcomed the positive message from the recent phone conversation between Trump and Xi, expressing support for strengthened dialogue and communication to advance bilateral relations and economic cooperation. \"As the world's two most dynamic and technologically advanced economies, the U.S. and China should pursue mutually beneficial cooperation and work towards finding a constructive and stable way to coexist,\" they said.

Han also met with Tesla CEO Elon Musk on Sunday. He welcomed U.S. companies like Tesla to seize opportunities in China and contribute to promoting economic and trade exchanges between the two countries. Musk expressed readiness to deepen investment and cooperation in China and to play an active role in fostering U.S.-China economic relations.
