Chinese Vice President Han Zheng Meets U.S. Business Leaders to Strengthen Ties

Chinese Vice President Han Zheng met with leading U.S. business representatives in Washington D.C. on Sunday, emphasizing the importance of continued investment and collaboration to foster stable and sustainable China-U.S. relations.

Han, serving as Chinese President Xi Jinping's special representative, is in the United States to attend the inauguration ceremony of U.S. President-elect Donald Trump on Monday. During the meeting, he expressed hope that American companies would \"continue to invest and take root in China,\" playing an active role in bridging the two nations and contributing to the steady growth of bilateral ties.

He highlighted that President Xi and President-elect Trump had recently reached significant common understandings regarding the development of China-U.S. relations during a phone call. \"China and the United States share broad common interests and vast potential for cooperation,\" Han stated, adding that starting the bilateral relationship on a positive note serves the common well-being of both peoples and meets international expectations.

Han praised the U.S. business community as the backbone of China-U.S. relations, acknowledging their role as participants, witnesses, contributors, and beneficiaries of the two countries' economic and trade cooperation as well as China's reform and opening-up efforts. He reaffirmed China's commitment to advancing reform and opening-up and improving its business environment.

Representatives from the U.S. business community welcomed the recent positive dialogue between the two nations' leaders. They expressed optimism about China's economic prospects and affirmed their support for strengthening dialogue and communication to further advance bilateral relations and economic and trade cooperation.

\"As the world's two most dynamic and technologically advanced economies, the United States and China should pursue mutually beneficial cooperation and work towards finding a constructive and stable way to coexist,\" the representatives noted.

In addition to meeting with business leaders, Han also held talks with Tesla CEO Elon Musk. Han welcomed U.S. companies like Tesla to \"seize the opportunity to share in the fruits of China's development\" and contribute to promoting economic and trade relations between the two countries.

Musk expressed Tesla's readiness to deepen investment and cooperation in China, indicating the company's commitment to playing an active role in fostering U.S.-China economic and trade exchanges.

Han Zheng's visit and engagement with U.S. business leaders underscore a mutual eagerness to strengthen economic ties and cooperation between China and the United States, setting a hopeful tone for the future of bilateral relations as new leadership takes office.
