Chinese Vice President Han Zheng Meets U.S. Business Leaders to Strengthen Ties

Chinese Vice President Han Zheng met with representatives of the U.S. business community on Sunday, emphasizing the importance of strengthening China-U.S. relations through continued investment and cooperation. Han expressed hope that U.S. companies will continue to invest and take root in the Chinese mainland, acting as a bridge and contributing to the steady, sound, and sustainable development of bilateral ties.

During his visit to Washington D.C. to attend the inauguration ceremony of U.S. President-elect Donald Trump as President Xi Jinping's special representative, Han engaged with leaders from the U.S.-China Business Council and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. He highlighted the recent phone conversation between President Xi and President-elect Trump, noting that they reached important common understandings regarding the future of China-U.S. relations.

Han remarked that China and the United States share broad common interests and vast potential for cooperation. \"Getting the bilateral relationship off to a good start and keeping it growing steadily serves the common well-being of the peoples of the two countries and meets the expectations of the international community,\" he stated.

He praised the U.S. business community as the backbone of China-U.S. relations—participants, witnesses, contributors, and beneficiaries of bilateral economic and trade cooperation as well as China's reform and opening-up efforts. Han assured that China will continue to advance its reform and opening-up initiatives and improve its business environment.

Representatives of the U.S. business community expressed optimism following the positive, encouraging message from the recent phone conversation between President Trump and President Xi. They emphasized that as the world's two most dynamic and technologically advanced economies, the United States and China should pursue mutually beneficial cooperation and work towards finding a constructive and stable way to coexist.

The business leaders conveyed their optimism about China's economic prospects and development opportunities. They voiced support for strengthening U.S.-China dialogue and communication to continue advancing bilateral relations and economic and trade cooperation.

In addition to meeting with business representatives, Han Zheng also met with Tesla CEO Elon Musk on Sunday. Han welcomed U.S. companies, including Tesla, to seize the opportunity to share in the fruits of China's development and make greater contributions to promoting China-U.S. economic and trade relations.

Musk expressed that Tesla is ready to deepen its investment and cooperation with China and play an active role in promoting economic and trade exchanges between the United States and China.
