Han, serving as President Xi Jinping’s special representative, is in Washington D.C. to attend the inauguration ceremony of U.S. President-elect Donald Trump on Monday, at the invitation of the United States.

During his meeting with delegates from the U.S.-China Business Council and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, Han highlighted the important common understandings reached between President Xi and President-elect Trump during a recent phone conversation regarding the advancement of China-U.S. relations.

“China and the United States share broad common interests and vast potential for cooperation,” Han said. “Getting the bilateral relationship off to a good start and keeping it growing steadily serves the common well-being of the peoples of both countries and meets the expectations of the international community.”

Han acknowledged the significant role of the U.S. business community in China-U.S. relations, recognizing them as participants, witnesses, contributors, and beneficiaries of bilateral economic and trade cooperation as well as China’s reform and opening-up.

He assured that China will unswervingly advance its reform and opening-up efforts and continue to improve its business environment, inviting U.S. companies to seize the opportunities presented by China’s development.

Representatives of the U.S. business community expressed optimism about China’s economic prospects and development opportunities. They welcomed the positive message from the recent conversation between Trump and Xi, and emphasized the importance of mutually beneficial cooperation between the world’s two most dynamic and technologically advanced economies.

“The U.S. and China should pursue mutually beneficial cooperation and work towards finding a constructive and stable way to coexist,” they stated, supporting the strengthening of dialogue and communication to advance bilateral relations and economic and trade cooperation.

Han also met with Tesla CEO Elon Musk on Sunday. Han welcomed Tesla’s deeper investment and cooperation with China, expressing hope that the company would play an active role in promoting economic and trade exchanges between China and the United States.
