Chinese Vice President Han Zheng Meets U.S. Business Leaders to Strengthen China-U.S. Ties

Chinese Vice President Han Zheng met with U.S. business leaders in Washington D.C. on Sunday, emphasizing the importance of strengthening economic ties and cooperation between China and the United States.

Han expressed his hope that U.S. companies will continue to invest and establish roots in China, playing an active role as a bridge between the two nations. He highlighted the potential for U.S. businesses to contribute to the steady, sound, and sustainable development of China-U.S. relations.

During his visit to Washington D.C., Han is attending the inauguration ceremony of U.S. President-elect Donald Trump on Monday as the special representative of Chinese President Xi Jinping.

In his meeting with representatives from the U.S.-China Business Council and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, Han noted that President Xi and President-elect Trump recently reached important common understandings on the development of China-U.S. relations during a telephone conversation.

Han emphasized that China and the United States share broad common interests and vast potential for cooperation. He stated that fostering a strong start to the bilateral relationship and maintaining its steady growth serves the well-being of both peoples and meets the expectations of the international community.

He acknowledged the significant role of the U.S. business community as a participant, witness, contributor, and beneficiary of bilateral economic and trade cooperation, as well as China's reform and opening-up drive. Han assured that China will continue to advance its reform and opening-up efforts and improve its business environment.

Representatives of the U.S. business community expressed optimism about China's economic prospects and opportunities for development. They viewed the recent phone conversation between Trump and Xi as a positive and encouraging signal. The business leaders emphasized the importance of pursuing mutually beneficial cooperation and working towards a constructive and stable coexistence between the two countries.

On Sunday, Han also met with Tesla CEO Elon Musk. Han welcomed U.S. companies, including Tesla, to seize opportunities in China and contribute to the promotion of China-U.S. economic and trade relations. Musk expressed his readiness to deepen investment and cooperation with China and to play an active role in enhancing economic and trade exchanges between the two nations.

Han's visit and meetings with U.S. business leaders underscore the commitment of both countries to strengthen ties and explore new avenues for collaboration, signaling a hopeful beginning to the next chapter of China-U.S. relations.
