Chinese Vice President Han Zheng Meets U.S. Business Leaders to Strengthen China-U.S. Ties

Chinese Vice President Han Zheng met with representatives of the U.S. business community in Washington D.C. on Sunday, expressing hope for continued investment and cooperation between the United States and China.

Han, who is attending the inauguration ceremony of U.S. President-elect Donald Trump as the special representative of Chinese President Xi Jinping, emphasized the importance of steady, sound, and sustainable development of China-U.S. relations. He noted that President Xi and President-elect Trump recently reached important common understandings regarding the future of bilateral ties during a phone conversation.

\"We hope that U.S. companies will continue to invest and take root in China, play an active role as a bridge, and contribute more to the development of China-U.S. relations,\" Han stated during his meeting with business leaders from the U.S.-China Business Council and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.

Han highlighted the broad common interests and vast potential for cooperation between China and the United States, stressing that a good start and steady growth in bilateral relations serve the well-being of both peoples and meet international expectations.

He also acknowledged the pivotal role of the U.S. business community in China-U.S. relations, calling it a participant, witness, contributor, and beneficiary of bilateral economic and trade cooperation as well as China's reform and opening-up efforts. \"China will unswervingly advance its reform and opening-up and continue to improve its business environment,\" Han added.

Representatives of the U.S. business community expressed optimism about China's economic prospects and opportunities for development. They noted that the recent phone conversation between Trump and Xi sent a positive, encouraging message. As the world's two most dynamic and technologically advanced economies, the United States and China should pursue mutually beneficial cooperation and work towards a constructive and stable coexistence, they said.

On the same day, Han also met with Tesla CEO Elon Musk. Han welcomed U.S. companies, including Tesla, to seize opportunities to share in the fruits of China's development and contribute to promoting China-U.S. economic and trade relations.

Musk expressed Tesla's readiness to deepen investment and cooperation with China and to play an active role in promoting economic and trade exchanges between the two countries.
